EXPRESS YOURSELF THERAPY
ERIN MCCARRON
LCSW, CST-S, AF-EMDR trained
(she/her)
Owner, Lead Therapist, Clinical Supervisor

Erin, the owner of Express Yourself Therapy (EYT), works with individuals, couples, polycules, friends, and families. She came to this work through years of teaching, research, and community practice — witnessing firsthand how profoundly unmet the need for affirming, shame-free support around sex and identity remained, even as the cultural conversation evolved. Her sessions tend to be curious without being clinical, grounded without being rigid, and deeply human without losing sight of the real work of change.

She is a Certified Sex Therapist Supervisor whose approach draws on Attachment-Focused EMDR, Urban Tantra, and Somatic Experiencing. She believes that most sexual and relational struggles are not disorders to be fixed but adaptations that made sense at the time — and that understanding where those patterns came from is often the very thing that loosens their grip. She works collaboratively with clients to trace the connections between early relational wounds, embodied experience, and present-day erotic or intimate life, building from insight toward genuine felt change.

Erin has particular depth of experience working with LGBTQIA+ individuals navigating identity development, coming out, internalized shame, and the cumulative toll of minority stress. She is kink-affirming and sex-positive, approaching sexuality without judgment or pathologizing — including gender-affirming sex therapy for trans clients, and healing from disconnection from pleasure. She also works with people in ethically/consensually non-monogamous relationships and understands the specific relational dynamics, negotiations, and strengths inherent in those structures.
Erin also works with women and trans folks navigating perimenopause and menopause — a transition that is too often met with silence, confusion, or dismissal. Many people arrive having felt brushed off by medical providers, unsure what is happening to their bodies, and carrying a quiet sense of loneliness around changes that are affecting their sleep, desire, mood, and sense of self. She offers a space where those experiences are taken seriously, explored with care, and met with the kind of informed, affirming support that can make this chapter feel less isolating and more like something you are moving through with agency.

Before becoming a therapist, Erin was a marine biologist and biology teacher — and she will tell you that her fascination with animal behavior, from the intricate social lives of sea creatures to the rituals of creatures on land, is what eventually drew her toward the equally fascinating and far more complicated terrain of human behavior. That scientific curiosity never left; it just found a new home. When she is not in session, she is most likely watching a nature documentary, people (and dog) watching at one of her favorite cafes, or on a plane to a country she has never visited, throwing herself into the local food, music, dance, and history with the same appetite she brings to everything she loves.
